NBC is staging a three-way crossover for Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D., TVGuide.com has learned.

The episodes, to air Nov. 11 and Nov. 12, will share a story line about a child pornography ring that will begin on Chicago Fire (Tuesday, 10/9c) that then teams the P.D. squad to the New York City-based SVU investigators the following night (9/8c). Then, the SVU team travels to Chicago for the final hour of the event at 10/9c.

“It’s really representative of what we’re finding happening in the country more and more, that these organizations that we want to dismantle move across borders, they move state-to-state, and it takes a lot of people to cut off all the heads on this particular monster,” Sophia Bush told TVGuide.com Monday. “It’s a very personal story for Lindsay because it taps into her family and her childhood in a way that I don’t think the audience will expect.”

Bush’s character, Lindsay, along with Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Voight (Jason Beghe), will appear on SVU. Rollins (Kelli Giddish), Amaro (Danny Pino) and Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will appear on P.D. However, no one from SVU will appear on Fire.

“It’s a crazy collaboration process because it’s one thing to cross over two shows. It’s a whole other thing when you add SVU into it too,” Chicago Fire and P.D. executive producer Michael Brandt said. Also making things complicated is the fact that the Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D. writers rooms are based in Los Angeles, while the SVU writers room is based in New York. “The logistics of making this work have been tough, but SVU sent a writer to Los Angeles to sit with us for awhile, and we all broke the stories together,” Brandt said.

Although this is the first three-parter, this is hardly the first crossover between the three shows. SVU and P.D. crossed over twice last season when Det. Lindsay traveled to New York, and when Rollins and Fin (Ice-T) traveled to Chicago, and P.D. and Fire have crossed over quite a bit.

“We wanted to figure out a way to create a crime that connects all three shows. Warren Leight (SVU), Matt Olmstead (Chicago Fire and P.D.) and I came up with a story that was big and unique enough to transit to all three,” Dick Wolf, who executive-produces all three series, said in a statement.

Brandt said that NBC first came calling about new possible crossovers after last April’s successful Chicago Fire and P.D. two-parter, which revolved around the bombing of a hospital, and the subsequent investigation of who was behind it. “NBC was asking for more ideas on how another one might work, and Dick, of course, was pushing really hard on figuring out with NBC how to make it work for all the shows, and financially, and all those kind of details,” Brandt said. “Dick is always looking for ways to cross over the shows, to promote the shows, to make everything bigger. These truly are his children, and we take his guidance. He’s always thinking outside the box, and this is another example of that.”

And it definitely won’t be the last. Brandt said talks of another major crossover event for next year are already in the works. “For all I know, there might be a C.P.D-SVU crossover again so we’ll see but there’s definitely going to be a Fire-C.P.D. crossover in the second half of the year,” Brandt said.

You most likely remember Sophia Bush starring as a feisty high school cheerleading captain-turned fashion designer on One Tree Hill for almost a decade. But now the brunette beauty stars in a role we haven’t seen her in before: a street-smart cop from the wrong side of the law, which surprisingly, she says isn’t much of a stretch!

“I have a concealed weapons permit in 32 states and sleep with a loaded gun under my bed,” she says. “This feels much more close to my soul than anything else ever has before.”

While we’re guessing she probably impressed the SWAT team she had to train with for the series (Chicago P.D. is back for its second season tonight!), she still had to look the part from head to toe. That’s why she turned to powerhouse celeb trainer Patrick Murphy, who armed her with the strength, endurance, and agility to play Detective Erin Lindsay.

We went up close and personal with the fitness pro to steal his fighting secrets and even scored Sophia’s exact workout routine for the show. So read on and get ready to sweat!

Shape: How long have you been working with Sophia Bush and how did you start working together?
PM: I started working with Sophia Bush this summer to help her prepare for season two of Chicago P.D. I’ve been working with another awesome Chicago PD. co-star, Jesse Soffer, since before season one. Jesse asked Sophia to give me a shot. For the last 20 years, my business has been built on referrals.

Shape: With such a fierce role, did Sophia have to learn any stunts or do any specific workouts pertinent to her character?
PM: Sophia takes her role very seriously. I know she experienced tactical weapons training and also learns from professional stunt coordinators. Her goals are to achieve high endurance, agility, balance, and body awareness. Sophia needs to be strong and stable to avoid any injuries during shooting. She kicks butt, that’s for sure.

Shape: What did your workouts entail to achieve that?
PM: Sophia and I train with one-hour workouts, four times a week. We cover it all. Depending how Sophia is feeling, we interchange full body workouts and split routines. We accomplish high intensity circuits, super sets, and corrective exercises for optimal alignment and posture. Many of the exercises are compound, involving many muscle groups with each rep. Ever-changing workout programs defeat plateaus. Change evokes change. My workouts are high intensity. There is no time wasted.

Shape: What type of physical and mental changes have you seen since you first started to train together?
PM: Don’t get me wrong, Sophia looked great when we started! The goal was to go for optimal, peak results. Through high intensity and varied training, we achieved even greater mental toughness and endurance. Sophia has great balance, flexibility, and strength. Get ready for Sophia to take charge in season two of Chicago P.D.!

Sophia Bush’s Chicago P.D. Workout Routine

How it works: This is a five compound exercise circuit repeated three times. Rest one minute between each circuit, after all five exercises are completed.
You will need: Dumbbells, half ball, medicine ball, balance ball, mat.

Iso-Lunges with Dumbbell Front Raise
Reps: 15 per leg
Stay in lunge position while performing shoulder front raises (straight arm raise in front).

Alternating Reverse Stepping Lunge with Row
Reps: 20
Using a heavy band wrapped around pole, alternate legs while reverse step lunging and row on the bottom with each step.

4-Spot Dumbbell Punching and Pressing while Skipping Over Half Ball
Reps: 15
Using a half ball (bosu dome), skip side to side as you single arm punch and then vertical press: punch/punch, press/press.

Jump Lunging in One Place with Medicine Ball
Reps: 20
Jump lunge as medicine ball moves side to side over the forward leg.

Balance Ball Forearm Bridge Moving Arms Forward and Back and Side to Side
Perform a perfect forearm bridge on a balance ball and move forward and back (20 times) and side to side (20 times) in tiny movements.

“Dear Chalkboard readers,

Well. I awoke this morning to greet the day with a real reminder of my flawed humanity. Having slept less than five hours before a big day of work, instead of clocking my aspirational eight, it was impossible to roll groggily out of bed without being aware of the acute irony of the situation. Here I am – guest hosting Chalkboard ahhhh! – writing for my favorite website on health and wellness, and I’ve begun the day by breaking a cardinal rule. I haven’t slept enough. I’m probably dehydrated. And not even for a fun reason. It wasn’t a pitcher of spicy margaritas with friends that put me here, it was a late cross-country flight for work that has my lips feeling chapped and my body feeling a little swollen. But you know something? It’s okay. This is the real part, isn’t it?

I’m getting much more passionate about my health – hello yoga! – but I am nowhere near having cracked the code. Are any of us, really? We all have aspirations to live a life worthy of gorgeous Pinterest imagery, with impossibly chic farmer’s market style and refrigerators stocked with oddly delicious yet nutritious snacks ranging from grass-fed meats to vegan and gluten-free delights, but we all have days where we wind up in ratty sweatpants and binge on an entire bag of tortilla chips or a pint of ice cream, standing like a flamingo in front of the fridge. Wait. Is it just me who does the whole standing-in-a-pseudo-yoga-pose-while-snacking thing? Well… that’s my quirk y’all. And to be honest, I sort of like it.

Which brings me to a point. I’m learning to love myself better. The superhero, badass, school-building, TV-show-making, great-advice-giving, yeah, I’ll say it, awesome me! And I am also learning to love the fearful, skips-yoga-even-though-I-know-I-should-go, sometimes-short-tempered, has-made-my-fair-share-of-big-mistakes, goes-for-a-bourbon-over-a-green-juice, and will-always-hit-the-snooze-button-one-more-time-than-I-know-I-should me. And why not? We are, after all, the sum total of our parts, beautyfull readers. Yes, beauty-FULL. Because isn’t that the goal? On this road to becoming our aspirational selves versus our practiced selves (thanks for those wonderful terms, Brené Brown) we need to start filling up with goodness. Health. Vitality. Kindness. That’s where beauty comes from. A deep well within, full of love. And sometimes delicious cake. We can’t be perfect all the time. But with communities like this one we can embrace the perfection of our messy humanity more and more often. And hopefully, someday love that humanity, yes, all of the time.

“The first time [we watched her] was in Van Wilder,” Bush’s mom, Maureen, tells PEOPLE. “Kissing Ryan Reynolds, her butt in the air … we were like ‘Whoa!'”
While mom calls it “awesome” but a “shock,” the actress, 31, recalls the movie-watching experience with her parents as “super, super awkward.”
Though Bush can’t catch her hit NBC show with her parents these days (she clocks in 16-hour work days on set in Chicago), Bush’s mom and dad are still her biggest fans.
“We wouldn’t miss it,” says Maureen, 62. “We watch it live, even with the commercials. It’s my girl!”
And just like any other mom, she still worries “every time I know she’s flying or traveling or in the snow,” but when it comes to the actress’s career, she’s always been fully on board.
“They’ve always been there and [now] they’re great friends to me,” says Sophia. “I don’t think that works when you’re 15, but when you’re 30 it’s amazing.”
